Dredd vs Dredd vs Dredd

I noticed that the 2000AD tumblr was reblogging this image:

Yep. No doubt the new DREDD costumes are a step-up from the Stallone movie. Especially in that particular photo. But it’s a bit of a straw man. I’ve yet to see a convincing image of an actor wearing those new helmets properly. The new poster is great, but that’s a LOT of shadow they’re playing with. A trailer would be nice…

And I fucking love Karl Urban. Go grab a copy of OUT OF THE BLUE if you haven’t seen it. The guy can act and I love that he gets the deal with the helmet. I just wished they’d given him one that fits.

And yeah I’m a fanboy and yeah I hear all the people saying that there’s a difference between how Dredd’s uniform is designed for the comic and what would be ‘realistic’ in the ‘real world’ yadda yadda, but at the same time… fuck that shit.

I’m hoping the reluctance to show a trailer is simply a matter of bad timing. The plot of DREDD is very similar to THE RAID so perhaps they’re just waiting for that to clear our systems. We’ll see.

I want the new movie to be great I really do. I’m just worried.

I think you have to embrace Mega City One and all the weirdness that entails, but if you’re concerned about the kneepads then you’re never going to get there.

Then again if its better than the last one and still not everything I hoped for maybe these guys will eventually get a shot at being involved in the next one:
